Inspired by iPad
The new MacBook Air, let’s take a moment to talk about iPad. When we created the iPad, we pioneered many new technologies that have become the product’s signature.
Solid state storage - The iPad stores all of its contents in solid state memory. There are no moving parts and this solution is very responsive and energy efficient. Because we use flash storage, we’re able to provide a device that powers on instantly.
Instant on - The solid state storage allows for the system to be very responsive. When you’re ready to use it, press the Home button and it’s on.
Amazing standby time - The solid state storage is a very energy-efficient solution which allows the iPad to maintain its battery charge for long periods of time.
No optical/HD - We live in a wireless world where we can surf the web, email, download movies and songs, and install software all without wires or physical media.
Unibody Display

Apple pioneered the precision aluminum unibody in 2008 with the MacBook Air then brought the technology to the entire MacBook Pro line.

This process involves taking a solid piece of aluminum and machining it down to a thin, seamless enclosure with the frame and structure built in. We have expanded this build process across all of our notebooks, and customers love the design. For the first time, Apple has applied the unibody design to the display. The result is a display that integrates all the structural components and contains 48% fewer parts. With less parts, the display is more durable and razor thin.

Up to 4GB 1066MHz DDR3 Memory
